A subcision procedure involves inserting a needle or blunt tip cannula underneath the skin to break up scar tissue that is pulling down the skin. Subcision is effective for atrophic acne scars such as rolling or boxcar scars that appear like a depression or crater due to destruction or loss of collagen. The # of sessions required depends on the severity of the scars. They are best done a month apart. Bruising and swelling can occur.
